March 22nd 2020
In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic we have made the decision to close our shop operation in Alvingham. It became apparent this week that maintaining adequate social distancing at our little shop is very challenging. With two vulnerable members of the family and our amazing Team Shaw to think about we therefore made the decision that Saturday, 21st March 2020 would be our last day of operating the shop until further notice. We hope that we will be back welcoming you to the shop when it is safe to do so in the future.
UPDATE FROM CAT SHAW:
Dear Friends of Shaw’s,
First and foremost I must apologise that we had to shut the shop. Our decision to do so was purely based upon the safety of our two vulnerable people (Dad and Mike), our team and you the customer. We simply could not continue in the way it was week commencing 16th March.
I innocently thought that home deliveries were the solution and that it might have a slow start but we would be able to build up the option as a means to keep trading throughout the coming months. Instead I found my team and I so inundated to the point of breaking point which is why we had to pause taking any further deliveries.
I am conscious that many of our regular customers have found themselves unable to book in a delivery slot at present time and this upsets me greatly as I am so grateful for your support over the years.
Dad and Mike are now isolating so I now feel we can offer the option to come and collect orders for those able to do so. This in turn will help us get to those who are unable to leave their homes.
THIS IS HOW IT WILL WORK:
Once your order is picked and packed ready you will be given a call to take card payment. At this time you will be asked if you are able to collect or need delivery. If you are able to collect you will be given a time slot in which to do so. I hope this will alleviate the back log of orders and allow us to better serve the vulnerable self-isolating.
Please pull up to the yard gate at your allocated time, REMAIN OUTSIDE THE BARRIER. A member of the team will stand 2 metres back and ask your name and get your box. They will get your box and leave it at the gate for you to pick up. Hopefully this will mean we can try to stay healthy to keep serving you.
Huge thanks to the many volunteers helping to keep us going.
Many thanks for your patience.
