Loose Fruit & Vegetable Champions of Lincolnshire!
An amazing thing happened and we feel so humbled and grateful.
We were recently crowned ‘Lincolnshire’s loose fruit and veg champion’ after local residents nominated us in a social media campaign run by Lincolnshire County Council as part of the Food Waste Action Week. Chris Yorston, Head of Waste at Lincolnshire County Council visited the shop on Tuesday 1stApril to present a certificate to us.
As part of the Food Waste Action Week the team at Lincolnshire County Council wanted to celebrate the amazing producers and businesses who make it easier for people to buy loose fruit and veg. They wanted to share the huge benefits of shopping savvy and buying your fruit and veg loose and asked Lincolnshire residents to give a shout out to Lincolnshire’s amazing grocers, markets, farm shops and supermarkets by commenting on their social media posts and nominating their champions.
Residents local to us came out in force to support us, both for selling loose fruit and veg, but also for being such a big part of their community. Comments included:

It was so humbling to receive this award as part of Food Waste Action week. Namely because it was voted for by our incredible customers and their comments really blew us away but also but because it put small independent fruit and vegetable sellers like ours in the spotlight and showcased the benefits of buying loose. There were some wonderful businesses that were nominated along with us, and we would like to wish them every success in their businesses. A huge thanks to our team who make Shaw’s what it is.
